Standing Seam Metal Roofs

Fontaine Roofing has installed many standing seam roofs over the years from small additions to complete re-roof of homes or commercial buildings. We are well trained, and we have the experience to know the large and small points that will lead to a beautiful roof that will deliver a long and trouble-free life.

We custom fabricate roofing accessories as needed for a project, from the drip edges, valleys and caps, to all types of flashing—anything that may be needed to provide you with the best-looking and most reliable installation possible. And we do it on-site, with our professional pan former equipment. This brings a high level of efficiency to your project which reduces the time it takes to complete your roof as well as the cost of project interruptions while waiting for needed materials.

What is a standing seam roof?

Standing seam metal roofs are built using flat metal panels, usually made from recycled steel and aluminum. The panels are fabricated through a form-rolling process and should be installed using a concealed fastener system. The concealed fasteners contribute to the aesthetic appearance of the building and are beneficial because they are not exposed to water and the elements. Metal roofs that are installed using exposed screws that penetrate the metal are susceptible to leaks.

The standing seam metal and process can also be used as siding.

Benefits of a Standing Seam Metal Roof

Energy Efficiency

Standing seam roofs or "cool metal roofs", as they are sometimes referred, tend to reflect the infrared sunlight that minimizes roof heat and the infrared radiation that heats attics to high temperatures which in turn causes the entire structure to become uncomfortably warm. A standing seam roof can help save energy (reducing HVAC running hours) and help a project meet Energy Star and LEED requirements.

Strength and Durability

A standing seam metal roof is one of the most durable roofing options. It can withstand wind, snow, rain, sun and other extreme weather conditions. It is also great at shedding snow and creates no ice dams further reducing stress to your structure during the winter months. When installed properly, a standing seam roof can last upwards of 50 years.

Low Maintenance

A yearly check by a roofing professional for punctures from falling debris is generally all that is needed to preserve your investment.

Lightweight

Standing seam roofs are a lighter roofing choice because they create less of a load on your home’s existing support structure than other roofing materials.

Design Flexibility

A variety of styles and colors to choose from to match your home or business' exterior.

100% Recyclable

Sustainable: The standing seam metal used by Fontaine is made from recycled steel and aluminum and are 100% recyclable at end of useful life.
